As we send cards to loved ones and attend the graduation parties of our friends’ kids, I often wonder about my children’s preparedness for the adjustments they’ll be expected to make into early adulthood. I worry about everything – from succeeding academically, to finding a solid group of friends, to their ability to fulfill their own, daily needs (like eating and washing clothes).
In the short-term, to elleviate my concerns, I find myself reading books about other people’s successes, trying to find tips that I can teach my children. There are two things I’ll carry forward after reading The Straight A Handbook: (1) the use of parables with kids can be powerful, and, (b) you have to put in the time – in school, in business, in life, in anything – to be successful!
